Podcast Hub

At ARE, we believe our communities’ voices matter.

But far too often, Black, Asian and Mixed heritage young people and children, and our community leaders, are left out of the debate, especially on issues that most impact them.

That is one reason why our project and programme teams have started to build on our collection of podcasts, created by and for those most connected to our work.

With a grounding in the lived experience of race and racism, our podcasts bring to life important discussions that can be accessed by anyone, anywhere.

These podcasts can also be used to inspire your own youth-led Race Equality Action Project.

As you listen to these, you may want young people to consider:

  • Why did the creators feel the need to make this podcast?
  • What are the key areas the podcast is trying to address?
  • Who is it aimed at?
  • What changes are the people in the podcast asking to see?
  • What do you think you could do after after listening to the discussion?

Black voices have always been at the forefront of social change, from Martin Luther King Jr.’s powerful speeches to Hip Hop’s Public Enemy using rap to challenge norms. This legacy continues today, with Black Podcasters using their platforms to share important stories and conversations mainstream media is often too scared to touch.
