Our Commitment

Routes2Success prides itself for providing young people in schools, and other educational settings, with positive role-models and dedicated mentors from similar backgrounds. These volunteers play a key role in supporting young people with careers advice, entrepreneurial skills, making positive choices and provide tips and guidance on overcoming obstacles.

Role-models and mentors come from a range of backgrounds and experiences, but share a commitment to equal opportunities and helping all young people reach their potential.

Volunteer role

Role-models

Our role-models work as a team to deliver three sessions to the same cohort of young people over three weeks.

Role-models will…
  • Inspire through life experiences and experiential opportunities;
  • Communicate by providing opportunities for pathway challenges and opportunities
  • Share best practice, offer tips and access opportunities for success
Volunteer role

Mentors

Our mentors work one-to-one with a young person identified as needing extra support over a period of six months.

Mentors will…
  • be a confidante for the young person they work with
  • help the young person to challenge their own behaviour and decisions
  • help the young person to discuss challenges and personal issues
  • support the young person to develop the skills and tools to manage their social and emotional difficulties
  • use their own experiences for the benefit of the young person by sharing their own journey

Freelance (paid)

Expert role-models

Our expert role models work with young people over the course of 6-10 sessions, leveraging their expertise to help young people execute their own Race Equality Action Projects (REAPs).

Expert role-models will…
  • Work with young people over 6-10 sessions 
  • Use their expertise to ensure the completion of REAPs 
  • Share their knowledge and skills 
  • Be paid between £100-£150 per session

                                    We are looking for role models and mentors from African, Caribbean, Asian, Arab and Mixed Heritage backgrounds to work with young people aged 10 – 25 years old across London.

                                    We’ll ask for some more information so we can complete essential safeguarding checks and training

                                    Start your volunteering journey

                                    You’ll be invited to shadow a current role-model or mentor, to see how it’s done!
