Action for Race Equality is thrilled to today unveil a new home for our long-running role model and mentoring programme, Routes2success!
We have designed a revitalised online hub to better support young people from Black, Asian, Mixed-heritage and Arab backgrounds, and the organisations and schools working with them. We have added key programme information, advice and guidance on education and employment choices, and a dedicated area to learn more about our role models.
The Routes2Success programme, supported by funders Blackbaud, and The Mayor of London through the Propel initiative, has been a cornerstone of our work since its inception in 2013.
It provides culturally-competent mentoring, workshops, and training sessions for children and young people aged 10-24 from Black, Asian, Mixed-heritage, minority ethnic and Arab backgrounds, particularly in London.
The new Routes2Success homepage offers a streamlined, user-friendly experience, making it easier for participants, educators, and supporters to navigate and find useful resources.
What’s new on our website?
- A directory of resources: updated tools, materials and organisations relating to employment, education and criminal justice.
- Role Model profiles: a new gallery showcasing our dedicated role models, helping schools understand the breadth and depth of expertise we bring to our school sessions.
- A REAP hub showcasing youth-led Race Equality Action Projects (REAPs), and information on getting started with your own project.
- Information for education providers: specific information for schools and colleges, and how they can benefit from Routes2Success’ expert-led sessions.
Our redesigned pages highlight the impact of Routes2Success, and provide key information for schools and volunteers thinking of working with us. Also new is a specific resource hub for young people, bringing together advice, videos and podcasts from all areas of ARE’s work (education, employment and criminal justice) with content created specifically by, or for, children and young people from Black, Asian and Mixed heritage backgrounds. We encourage everyone to go and explore Routes2Success and connect with the programme through social media, or our education & young people’s newsletter.”
Payal Bhavsar, Senior Communications and Engagement Officer
Since its inception in 2014, Routes2Success has mentored over 450 children and young people through group workshops and one-on-one sessions, thanks to the work of more than 30 passionate volunteer role models. The programme continues to demonstrate the power of targeted support for ethnic minority students, fostering their confidence, self-esteem, and educational attainment.
We invite everyone to explore the updated site, learn more about Routes2Success, and find out how you can get involved.
