Mayaroma creates essential oil blends for use in domestic and commercial environments to produce a relaxed mood or stimulate the mind.
Prior to joining this programme, Maya had taken some business classes on the Prince’s Trust course. However, she was not at the right stage of her business to really benefit from them as they had more specific requirements and targeted a later stage of business development. The bespoke, flexible support offered on the Inclusive Entrepreneurship Programme was
one of the main appeals for Maya as it didn’t matter that her business was at an early stage, and she was supported in any individual challenges she faced.
The consultancy sessions were key to this personalised approach as Maya covered all areas she needed with them, including marketing, business planning and financials, in a way that she was actually able to implement.
The fact that the consultants used were from a similar background was also something that Maya found made a difference to her as they were more aware of challenges faced and the approach they took reflected on their shared experiences.
Using the grant, Maya was able to buy product packaging and equipment to make it, raw materials to make her oils and is still in the process of building her website to reach a wider range of customers.
