ARE receives award from global tech firm for Routes2Success’ commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion

We are thrilled to announce that Action for Race Equality has been named as one of five non-profits around the world to receive a philanthropic gift from Blackbaud – a leader in global cloud software – alongside an offer of multi-year organisational support from the firm.

The news was shared on Thursday 26th January, with Blackbaud announcing the following charities to receive support as part of their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in 2023:

  • Action for Race Equality in the UK
  • Braven in the U.S.
  • Indspire in Canada
  • the Omar Dengo Foundation in Costa Rica
  • the Ladder Project Foundation in Australia

Blackbaud’s funding will specifically go to supporting our Route2Sucess programme whose work provides young people between the ages of 10 and 18 in London with positive role models from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Blackbaud will also be providing organisational support to Routes2Success and will facilitate opportunities for its employees to volunteer and engage with us as mentors, providing things like career panels, resumé reviews, mock interviews and more.

ARE is very pleased and appreciates the generous funds and the organisational support that Blackbaud is contributing to our Routes2Success (R2S) Ethnic Minority Role Model and Mentoring Programme.

To have our hard work and commitment to raising academic grades and the self-esteem of young people supported by a leading global organisation demonstrates the need for effective programmes like R2S. The funds from Blackbaud will allow us to expand our support for young people from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds in additional London boroughs. In these difficult times for young people and small charities like ours, this is great news!”

Brianna Cyrus, Programme Manager (Routes2Success)

Routes2Success’ young people are supported by role models and mentors, who provide them with career advice, support in making positive choices as well as guidance to help overcome obstacles.

Route2Sucesses progamme works with schools, prisons, young offender institutions, pupil referral units and youth organisations, delivering workshops that inspire young people to realise their full potential in education and employment.
