Associate Director of Policy, Understanding Society, University of Essex
Raj’s work focuses on championing evidence informed public policy to tackle key societal challenges. He is currently the Associate Director of Policy for Understanding Society and based at the Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of Essex. He was previously Director of Research and Policy at the Learning & Skills Network, where he ran a large commercial research function and an independent think tank. His career includes creating one of the UK’s largest campaign’s to shift enterprise culture amongst young adults (as part of an entrepreneurial team), and heading up Research and Development at the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (now DLUHC). He has operated across government, academia, business and charities at a senior level.
