Indra joined ARE in 2014 as a Programme Director, initially leading the Opening Doors Network programme, which supported Black, Asian and mixed heritage entrepreneurs to start their own businesses, bringing over 20 years experience of in programme management to the role.
In her 10 years with ARE, Indra has become one of the lead bid writers for ARE and has helped design and directly manage over 10 different ARE programmes. These have included in recent years the Windrush Justice Programme (£1.3m), Global Majority Fund Intermediary partner (£0.5m), Youth Futures Infrastructure Fund (£277k), Islington Entrepreneur programmes (£150k). Indra has been a member of the Senior Leadership Team supporting with development of ARE’s new three-year strategic plan and leads on shaping new internal systems and processes to ensure efficient ways of working within the charity.
Before joining ARE, Indra worked within the race equality sector with a Further Education (FE) focus. She has also worked as a programme manager for several FE colleges and led work to develop new apprenticeship Trailblazer Standards. Indra holds a degree in BEng (Hons) in Manufacturing Systems Engineering but chose to start her career in the retail sector as a graduate management trainee before moving into the finance sector where she managed a number of IT related projects for large companies like RBS/Natwest.
