Following the successful launch of our podcast series, ARE Voices, in May, ARE is excited to announce the release of two more episodes this National Inclusion Week!
Taking inspiration from stories and insights shared by community leaders, young people, employers and Black, Asian, Mixed-heritage and minority ethnic led organisations we work with, ARE Voices casts a light on the unique experience and expertise of those passionate about our work, and anti-racism more generally.
The next two episodes explore code-switching and cultural identity, respectively, with both centering around the concept of being your authentic self in the workplace.
ARE is engaging with these discussions in response to this year’s National Inclusion Week theme, Impact Matters.
This ‘centres around understanding, identifying and measuring impact on marginalised groups and taking actions that make for genuine, sustainable change that matters.’

These episodes have been developed with insight from ARE’s Youth Action Network (YAN), and feature candid discussions with YAN member, Ishitha Islam; ARE’s Local Project Development and Engagement Officer for Routes2Success, Liam Campbell, and Employment Programmes Delivery Lead, Freya Johnson.
They are conversations to empower, educate and work towards a solution to inequality in the UK.
To further support the National Inclusion Week theme and its aims, we will also be turning these episodes into ‘Time to Talk’ guides, which will help inform employers on how to create a more inclusive workplace for ethnic minority young people.
These guides will be created as part of our Building Ethnic Diversity in the Youth Employability Sector programme.
