The Alliance for Racial Justice is launching its first report ‘A better way to tackle institutional racism’ on Monday September 2 from 12:00 PM – 1:20 PM.
14 years on from the introduction of the Equality Act 2010, the legislation has proven too weak to effectively end racial inequalities. ‘A better way to tackle institutional racism’ sets out how legislation could be strengthened, and other measures to improve the ability to challenge and end institutional racism.
During this online, registration-first event, the Alliance will set out key recommendations from the paper and we will hear from a panel of experts working in the field.

About the Alliance for Racial Justice
The Alliance for Racial Justice is a collaborative network of organisations working across systems to eliminate racial inequality in England. We seek to provide a strong, strategic voice and hold the government and public bodies to account on their legal duty to tackle racism and encourage these bodies to become anti-racist.
In April 2024, the Alliance for Racial Justice held a two-part roundtable series with members of the Alliance and experts in the field to determine why progress has slowed, whether stronger legislation is needed to tackle institutional racism, and how we as voluntary and community organisations can provide an effective voice, evidence, and action to achieve our vision.
Action for Race Equality is a member of the ARJ, along with Black Equity Organisation; Friends, Families and Travellers; HIAS+JCORE; The Traveller Movement; Inclusive North; Runnymede Trust; BME National; Caribbean & African Health Network; Operation Black Vote; Black South West Network; and Race Equality Foundation who are the secretariat for the Alliance.
