… a very thought provoking Diversity and Unconscious bias training session for all of our line managers. The trainers were excellent at providing real examples and creating a safe environment for our managers to explore, discuss and challenge their individual conscious and unconscious biases.

- Facilitated conversations and ‘difficult’ conversations about Race and Racism
- Anti-Racism strategies and roadmaps
- Audits/reviews of practices including recruitment processes and marketing/comms plans.
- Community engagement strategies
- Input at ‘design stage’ of new projects with independent and specialist EEDI lens.
- Creating accessible guides and tips of how to engage with the ‘agenda’
Our trainer, Tebs, opened up a space that was safe and intimate and as such that meant honest, productive conversations happened. Thank you so much!

Coaching
ARE is aware that managers or SMT’s in any organisation are key to ensuring issues are identified, plans are developed and then ultimately responsible for finding solutions and initiating change. During this process it is vital that managers/SMT and senior leaders are given the support to reflect. EDI strategies are multi layered and need to be embedded in a range of ways. ARE offers specialist EDI coaching using either individual or group coaching styles and concentrates on helping an individual or team to grow and achieve their personal or team objectives.
An ARE coach can identify obstacles and roadblocks that hold back individuals particularly from BAME from achieving potential, or improving performance. Our approach focuses on the ‘present’ and not the past, it’s not telling people what to do, rather facilitating them to learn and grow from asking them questions and helping to gain insights and observations.
Coaching can help individuals feel clearer, more confident and more capable, helping be more focused and more productive.
Facilitating Action Learning
Teams can be brought up to speed with basic and overarching EDI principles but may need a more engaging and facilitated approach to help implement and embed changes. Learning and development with peers adds value to any training received
Talking about diversity
There’s no doubt that diversity brings many benefits to organisations. Taking advantage of those benefits can mean managing the challenges that it can present. We are skilled in engaging with diverse staff teams, customers, and service users. Where conflicts arise from the rich mix of gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, culture or any part of the diversity spectrum, our experts will help you devise lasting solutions.
Empowering approaches
We don’t believe it’s in our interest, or yours, to create a culture of dependency on our services. Our experts not only give advice to mitigate the negative impact of your current challenges, they also give you the knowledge and skills required for you and your teams to move forward.

This workshop has made me aware of the breadth of bias, and how our brains ‘short-cut’ to the known pattern. I will now try to pause more in everyday life to consider where bias might be at play.
