Background to the role
Action for Race Equality (ARE) is a national race equality charity dedicated to ending racial inequalities. We support, empower, and inspire young people while strengthening the civil society organisations that advocate for them.
As part of our ongoing growth, we are recruiting a Programme Director to oversee our funded programmes, secure new opportunities, and ensure effective delivery. This is a critical leadership role within ARE, with a strong focus on programme strategy, funding, and stakeholder engagement.
The role
Programme Director
As ARE continues to grow, we are seeking a talented individual to lead our programmes and take responsibility for overseeing current programmes with an integral role in fundraising (grants and contracts) for both ARE and (Action for Race Equality Enterprise Ltd).
This is an exciting and agile senior role within ARE, an organisation with a strong track record and reputation for delivering high-quality programmes.
Remuneration
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Contract length: 2-year fixed term
Hours: 35 hours per week
Hybrid – 3 days in King’s Cross office, 2 days remote
Commitment
As Programme Director, you will:
- Lead and oversee programme delivery, ensuring alignment with ARE’s mission.
- Develop and implement programme strategies, improving impact and efficiency.
- Secure funding through grants and contracts, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Build and maintain relationships with funders, employers, and stakeholders.
- Manage programme budgets, tracking income and expenditure.
- Line manage a team of four staff members, supporting their development.
- Oversee monitoring and evaluation processes to measure programme impact.
- Represent ARE externally, advocating for race equality and programme growth.
